Clematis for early summer
Early summer flowering clematis add spectacular colour and provide vertical interest to gardens.
There are some spring flowering clematis that don't need pruning which overlap into early summer. However, most of the large early summer clematis need some light pruning to remove winter damage or weak stems.
Because these large flowered hybrids are of mixed parentage their time of flowering varies and some even produce a second flush of flowers later in the year.
